Is running on a rest day a good idea?
Both Mads and I will heading out for a little run today (thursday). Mads will be going at 11:15, following the 10 am class. I’ll be going at 7:15, following the 6 pm class. We’ll be leaving from the gym, doing a small little loop around nordic.
As to the question above, is running on a rest day a good idea? First of all, it really depends on how much you need that rest day, and how hard and long you run. On a personal note, on one of my 2 rest days, I try to stay away from exerting my body. However, on the other day, not quite the same approach. I want to move around, I want to be physically active. I do however make sure of one thing, and that is I feel fresh for that first workout following my rest. If not, I know that running, or doing too much on my rest day was not a good idea.
It also depends on how much I’ve been running. Which, since winter has hit, I haven’t. So, in preparation to start running, well, I started running. Short distances, running drills followed by a good stretching session, so that when I first tackled on a 30 plus minute run my body would be ready.
So let’s run!
