Sometimes a push is all we need

IMG_3318

In case you don’t know me, or have figured out my personality, I’m not very authoritative. I like YOU to take the information I present, and then come to your own decisions on what to do with it. Even when it comes to CrossFit, I want the world to do it, but I never go to people and tell them straight up, YOU NEED TO DO CROSSFIT. Even though that’s what I truly believe. The same goes with Fish Oil. YOU NEED TO BE TAKING FISH OIL. There I said it! and feel much better for it. I danced around it yesterday in class, but just in case you weren’t there to hear it, it’s now on the internet forever! I can’t find liquid paper that works on computers yet…..

Luckily enough it’s not overpriced in Whistler. And, what’s better to know, I am not telling you this to profit. You can find them in Nester’s Pharmacy (yes, the back corner of Nester’s Market is a fully serviceable pharmacy, I knew that, didn’t you…) at a price that’s cheaper than anywhere I’ve found in the city. And, it often goes on sale. I prefer to take liquid, other’s can’t stomach it and take capsules. Either way, it’s such an easy way to help your body stay healthy in so many ways, too many to mention here. If you’re curious as to which brand, I buy Ascenta. I’ve found it to be of good value, and quality.

There are some fish oil that has vitamin D added. Not a good idea, as it really limits the amount of fish oil we can take, as vitamin D should not be taken in excess. Which leads me to the million dollar question, how much to take……And the answer is…….not too much, and not too little. Seriously, it’s hard to tell. But, start small. Read the label, and start with the lower of the recommended dosage. Give your body a chance to adjust. And, who knows, a little might be right for you. After about 10-14 days start to incrementally up the dosage. If you feel better as you up the dosage then stay there. Notice no difference, then go back down.

Hopefully you have questions, don’t be shy to ask next time you see me. Or all you iphoners, something to google while waiting for the bus………

Oh yeah, the blog, how’s about a WOD, isn’t that why you’re here.

Wednesday 02/03/10
Strength
Shoulder Press
3 x 5

WOD:
Tabata Something Else
Pullups
Pushups
Situps
Squats

The score is your total reps in all 32 intervals

And this is on the leaderboard, so that means you’ve got to make those reps count (You’ve got to make them count anyway….). That means pullups, chin over the height of the bar. Pushups, chest to ground (With hips moving with you in a plank position) with elbows locking out at top. Sit-ups, that’s all the way up, get to 90 degrees, and squats below parallel with full extension at the top……

And for a little PR, in case you missed Global news last night, they did a piece on the parking and olympics. You can see it here. They called the video creekside market concerns in case the link doesn’t work.

What’s for Breakfast?

The Paleo diet, it is as simplistic as you make it. You can be as creative as you’d like. There are foods that aren’t part of the diet. Yet the common question I have, “What can I eat for breakfast?”

For some strange reason, we think that breakfast consists of cereal and milk, eggs on toast, granola and yogurt, smoothie, pancakes, french toast, shall I continue. All of the above is what society deems as normal. But, if I told you that I sometimes have left overs for breakfast. Like beef stew. Or, baked fish and vegetables. Sometimes I eat a salad. And, get this one, sometimes I’m not even hungry and skip breakfast.

So, my question for all of you, what do you eat for breakfast?

And lastly, Tuesday’s WOD:

Paleo Brands

re-evolve-180x120

When I started this blog, I didn’t have too much to say about you guys and gals (how awesome you are, how you are killing it in your workouts, etc…I did, there just wasn’t as many of you!). I did a lot of talking about my dietary beliefs. It’s not that I no longer believe them, I feel stronger about them today then I ever did. What am I talking about? The Paleo Diet. Recently, some of the professionals in my field that I look up to have put their heads together and came up with this site. Paleo Brands. The site is new, it’s genius, informative, and links to more good info. Have a look if you are at all interested.

Friday’s WOD:
Partnered. Scored by total distance rowed, divided by time to finish the wod.

3 rounds.

Partner 1
Row for max distance
Partner 2
20 wall ball 20#/14#
20 box jumps 24″/20″

You switch places when partner 2 completes all 20 reps of each exercise. Leave the rower to accumulate total distance.

I have encountered some website issues, my apologies. It’s a server issue, which I cannot control. So, along with no site, I am not getting emails promptly. It has been in and out lately, if you see this post, hopefully in for good. It’s a good idea to bookmark the scheduler mindbody online, it is independent of my webhost. So that you can always use the scheduler. You might need to get creative to get there. But, I trust you can do it.
Again, my apologies.

Grassfed Bison Anyone?

bison-standing

That photo sure does stir up a good appetite……

For those interested in some grassfed bison, I can hook you up! Karsten, from Maluma Bison was kind enough to stop by the gym and ask if we were interested in placing an order for bison. We’d be looking at placing an order by September 15th for an October. If you’re interested let me know, and I’ll pass on the info.

Zone Follow up

It’s time for me to follow up, don’t think I haven’t forgotten about our zone adventure! I’ll be gone for the next few days, but when I get back, it’s time to review where you’re at.

I’m going to need a little face time with you, your food log, and your sustainability goals.
Speaking of gone, Jesse and Heather will be running the show while I’m gone. I expect you to be on your best behavior ;-)
See you soon,
Jordan
