Over the summer, and over the past year we’ve seen quite a few visitors from other affiliates. CrossFit is kind of a big deal, but as you’ll see in this email, it’s the people, not the program that make it so special.
Drew and his wife Lezlie stopped in for a few of the WOD’s during their visit. Here’s what he had to say:
Jordan,
I wanted to just send you and your members a thank you for allowing Lezlie and I to come to workout and giving us some comments on what to do while we were visiting Whistler. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome. It is nice to be able to go to an entirely different country but be around people that encourage you and treat you as if you lived there and worked out with them on a weekly basis. We have only been doing Crossfit for six months but we are continuously awed and impressed by the program and its followers. I have attached a picture of Lezlie with your shirt on looking out over a lake on the High Note trail we hiked one day while we were there. Again, if you are ever down in the Houston area look us up and come by for a workout.
Thanks again,
Drew Reeves
Here’s the photo:
And that is why I where my CrossFIt shirts with pride. I’m proud to call myself a CrossFitter, proud to train with this crew.
Drew and Lezlie, and to every other crossfitter who was graced us with your presence, thanks for stopping by. We loved having you!
First of all, let me start by saying that you people are special. Yep, you, the people that come to CrossFit to workout. It is pre-destined, that if you can come to this gym (voluntarily), and give it everything you’ve got, day in and day out, you are an individual of high character, period. O.k. I didn’t make that up, in fact, Coach (Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit) has been known to say time and time again that the people in his community are of solid moral values, and that it takes a certain individual to do what we do.
And today, was just a reminder of how right coach is. I am a terrible poker player, so when I asked what your least favorite CrossFit movement was, you knew it would be in the WOD, but you told me anyway. You could have avoided to do what you hate, but you did not. You faced it straight on, and you all did it extremely well. It makes me proud to be your coach.
On that note, another great quote that’s been playing in my head recently. If you only train the things you are good at, you will never improve. Train your weaknesses, and you will unlock things you never thought possible. So, please remember that when you warm up. Not that I don’t see a ton of that already!
And there’s a hard earned below parallel squat, nice work PAT!
And JT, with a 5000m row in 18:36! I thought you didn’t have stamina, LOL!
You do me proud, real proud! Congratulations to Eric, Shelley, and Mel, who all cracked the top 5 in a 500m row.
The photo above is the biggest group of 10 I’ve ever seen! Nice work on Widow Maker’s, it’s not getting any easier, believe me I know! Thanks G and Kerri for the encouragement this morning, it really helped me push those reps as it got hard, all 20 of them ;-).
So many little stories to tell, and so many updates, more to come tomorrow, stay tuned.
Side note, concept 2 will tell you where your rowing ranks. http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/rankings.asp
Just got it in the mail today. We’d like to extend an invitation to all for a Friday night showing of the movie. To avoid having to box up the TV and PS3 we’ll try to squeeze everyone into our place. Depending on numbers of people, the location may change. We’ll play it by ear. Lets call 9PM showtime, and your more than encouraged to bring something to drink. For more information, directions, or if you know your keen drop me an email, text, or phone call. Giddi up.
Post: I will do everything within my power not to watch it before Friday night.
Side note: My power is limited in these kinds of cases.
